Q & A WITH MITCH DELFS – CLICT MAGAZINE
Kenda/Morewood rider Mitch Delfs was recently interviewed by Click Magazine…This is what was said:
WA Boy Mitch Delfs has an unmistakable flow on a bike. Sam Hill is on a record saying that Delf’s cornering skills are some of the best in the business and prior results have led him to a spot on a world cup team alongside the likes of Rennie. With injury setbacks sending Rennie home early, Delfs has not disappointed, with some great results throughout the World Cup season so far. We caught up with him just after Bromont World Cup as he headed down to Whistler for some wildness.
Is this your first full World Cup circuit?
No this is my second, my first was in 08
Who have you been travelling with so far this year?
I have traveled with sneaky Nigel Reeve, Maddog Matty Dupelle, Wildcat Rennie, French Cous Cous, Massive Reischbieth, girlfriend Joshy Button, and Polish Pete.
Tell us a little about Rennie, was it hard to see him battling with the injury and then having to go home?
It was anoying because this year was going to be so much fun! Then seeing him struggle with an injury and then going home was just a big negative for our season.
Who are your sponsors?
My sponsor is Globe, the team sponsors are Kenda, Morewood, BOS, Control Tech, TroyLee Designs, Five Ten, Mavic, Raceface and SRAM.
Run us through your results this year in the World Cup and what is your current rank?
My results have been up and down. I had a rough start then a 12th in the second round which was good. Then I made some mistakes in the next two rounds, got my top 10 in Maribor, then was just trying to keep it going in Canada. I did well in Mont Saint Anne and had some big hopes for Bromont and then just booned over the bars, but I am still 20th overall.
Which did you pefer:Mont Saint Anne or Bromont?
Both are sick, I just had some big hopes on Bromont. I felt good on it and did well last year, so I would say Bromont.
Where are you hopeful of finishing in Schladming?
Im going straight for the podium there, big time!!!
What has been your favourite track so far this year?
La Bresse, Maribor, Mont Saint Anne and Bromont.
What has been the worst thing that you have had to deal with this year?
Big Dog Rennie going home, this year was going to be all time.
Being a WA boy do you get to ride with Sam much OS? Who do you mainly practice with on the circuit?
I actually dont get to! I usually try to ride with Will or Joshy B most of the time, but sometimes it’s whoever I meet on the way to the lift.
What are you most looking forward to about coming home to OZ?
Racing World Champs… Aussies are by far the best people to have in the crowd, they’re the loudest and know how to have fun.
Lastly, what is the best thing you can buy for one Canadian Dollar?
A condom ha ha
