KZN XC Cup #2 - Mountain View

Its XC time again. words from Roan Exelby:

Jislaaik!

Hot hot hot. We have been having some crazy weather lately - racing in this kind of heat takes some skill to keep dehydration and heat stroke at bay yet still ride at a respectable pace!

The DCM boys were flying this weekend - Brandon and Rourke put in a solid attack on lap 1 (of 9) to stay ahead the entire race.

Andrew Warr (Spider), Andrew Hill (Mountain Man), Carl Calverly … Read More »

KZN XC Cup #1 Stainbank

Roan Exelby gives us some feedback from the 1st leg of the KZN XC cup:

Stainbank Nature reserve was an awesome setting for the first leg of provincial XC racing… I managed to bag my first win for 2010. Andrew Warr rode in his typical attacking style but couldn’t hold on - he went off the front with Themba on the 3rd lap and i had to chase hard to reel them in.

Well done to JT for kicking some butt and coming in 2nd in his debut XC race (Veteran category). Respect.

Themba (Dave Leiman) is riding like a madman to … Read More »

KZN PUMP TRACK JAM

KZN got a taste of its first ever pump track event this past weekend. The race took part in Howick and was hosted by Morewood Bikes, Adrenalin Cycles and Fox Clothing.
Fox/Morewood rider Travis Browning put a lot of effort into designing and building the track, as well as putting on the event. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and there was a really good turn out of riders as well as spectators! The field consisted of all kinds of riders ranging from BMX riders, a few of the local Moto boys and the big wheelers! Fun was had by … Read More »

2010 Dirt 100 MOREWOOD MAKULU

Check out what DIRT had to say about our Morewood Makulu.

November 29th, 2009 @ 9:30 AM

There is something about this frameset that sets it apart from its rivals, whether it’s down to the design of the frame and its linkage or the tuned factory BOS suspension, it’s hard to say. But what is clear when you mount the Makulu is that it is different from anything you’ve ridden before, the suspension truly isolates the rider from the ground in a way which at first is almost disarming. But it doesn’t take long to get used to floating over the … Read More »

ZULA’S COME TO LIFE

Yesterday Morewood Engineering began powder-coating the first batch of Zula frames destined for the patient South African customers who had their names down on the very first batch of the Zula production. These lucky, soon-to-be Zula owners will be receiving their bikes VERY soon as the hands and powers that be in the Morewood factory are frantically doing the final assembly, QC, prep, alignment and packaging of these beautiful pieces. Check out the little gallery and story below and watch these frames come to life…

All of the tubing which is used on the Zula and Kwela frames is proprietary to … Read More »

CAPE PIONEER TREK - ROAN EXELBY

When I saw the images of the route on the CPT website , it was too much to resist. Sure, according to traditional periodisation and old school training regimen, you should be resting at this time of year… but this year has been a bit different for me. And sometimes you just have to follow your heart ! Besides - we do it for the love of biking man ! Who can resist riding in such splendour !??

I rode with Donovan “Powerhouse” Jackson. If you were born anytime in the 70’s or earlier, you will recall a clothing brand with … Read More »
